This Privacy Policy describes how Ulection collects and uses your information when you use our Services. Ulection receives your information through our website, email notifications, SMS, applications, buttons, widgets, ads, and from third parties such as Google Analytics, Google Adsense, and Stripe. When using any of our Services you consent to the collection, transfer, storage, disclosure, and use of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Privacy Overview

When signing up for an account with Ulection, you must select an account type of Citizen, Candidate, or Elected Official, and provide the following information; name, email address, and password. When editing your profile you have the option to provide information about yourself such as your location, age, gender identity, ethnicity, political party affiliation, phone number, a biography and upload a photo. Age, gender identity, ethnicity, political party affiliation, email address, and phone number will not be public anywhere on a Citizen profile. Location and political party affiliation will be public on Candidate and Elected Official profiles along with Occupation and/or Candidacy details.

We plan to use the demographic information of age, gender identity, ethnicity, and political party to create anonymous statistics inside of the rating of posts. These statistics will show how different segments of a population rates issues. 

Your name is listed publicly on your profile page and in search results. You are able to adjust what audience can view your Posts and those with a Citizen account can adjust how their name will appear on their Card. 

If you provide Ulection with your phone number, you agree to receive text messages to that number from Ulection. These text messages will be related to verification and login details.

When you provide Ulection with your email address, you agree to receive emails to that email address from Ulection. These emails may contain information about our Services, and topics regarding spam, fraud, and abuse. 

2. Location Information

Ulection may receive information about your location though data from your device, such as your IP address, and the location information which you enter in your Ulection profile. We may use information about your location to customize the Services.

3. Cookies 

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer or mobile device, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. Ulection uses cookies to help identify and track visitors and their usage of the Services. Ulection visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers or mobile devices should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using the Services, with the drawback that certain features may not function properly without the aid of cookies.

4. Log Data

Like many site operators, Ulection collects information that your browser sends whenever you use our Services. Log Data includes your IP address, browser type, operating system, the referring web page, pages visited, location, mobile carrier and device information, search terms, and cookie information. In addition, we use the third party service of Google Analytics to collect, monitor, and analyze the Log Data. 

5. Commerce Services

Ulection makes its money through advertisements and donations. On the website and in some emails you will find the donate feature which allows you to use a credit or debit card to donate money. The payment information you provide includes your name, credit or debit card number, expiration date, CVV code, and billing address. If you choose the recurring payment option then our payment processor, Stripe, will store your Payment Information in order to facilitate proper payments at your selected intervals. Ulection will keep your payment information private and only share it with Stripe to process the payments. It is necessary to do so in order to prevent, detect and investigate fraud or other prohibited activities, facilitate dispute resolution such as chargebacks; and for other purposes associated with the acceptance of credit or debit cards. If at any time you want to discontinue your recurring payment and remove your payment information, you can do so in your settings. 6. Third-Party Service Providers

Ulection uses a variety of third-party services to help provide our Services, such as Google Adsense for advertisements, Google Analytics for tracking use of the Services, and Stripe for payment processing. These third-party service providers may collect information sent by your browser as part of a web page request, such as cookies or your IP address. Third-party ad partners may share information with us, such as a browser cookie ID, website URL visited, or mobile device ID.

7. Law and Safety

Ulection may preserve or disclose your information if it is necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to protect the safety of any person; to address fraud, security or technical issues; or to protect Ulection’s rights or property. 

8. Business Transfers and Affiliates

If Ulection is involved in an acquisition, reorganization, merger, or bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of Ulection may continue to use your personal information as set forth in this policy. We may also disclose information about you to our affiliates in order to help provide, understand, and improve our Services and our affiliates’ services, including the delivery of ads.

9. Termination of Account

You can permanently delete your Ulection account by following the instructions here. Upon submitting your account termination request, your account will no longer be viewable on Ulection.com and the Content which you had posted will be deleted. Please keep in mind that even though your account is deleted from our systems, search engines and various websites may still keep records of your public information such as your public posts.

10. Our Policy Toward Children

Ulection does not intend for its Services to be used by anyone under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information of anyone under the age of 13. If you believe that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us and we will take the steps to remove the personal information and terminate the child’s account.

11. Privacy Policy Revisions

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be at Ulection.com/Privacy. If the revision contains information which we believe is a significant change from what is already published then we will notify you via an email to the email associated with your account. By continuing to access or use the Services after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms.
